Guidelines for Applying to The Bridge, Inc.

The Bridge, Inc. is a faith-based sober living community located in Artesia, NM. Our
mission is to support individuals as they transition from inpatient substance abuse
treatment into a stable, sober, and independent life. We provide a safe and
structured environment where residents can build healthy relationships, strengthen
life skills, and develop the tools needed for long-term recovery and personal growth.

Applicants must be:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Admitted into home directly from an inpatient program
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 months expected stay
  • Residents must provide a release date from an inpatient program
  • Must not be on the medication assisted program (or discontinue upon entry
    into The Bridge program)

PLEASE READ RULES AND REGULATIONS BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING APPLICATION

House Rules

  • No drugs or alcohol use
  • No drugs or alcohol in possession including drug paraphernalia and any
    product containing alcohol including mouthwash, kombucha, etc.
  • Residents can be drug or alcohol tested at any time. Residents may be
    observed while providing urinalysis
  • Residents’ rooms, belongings (including phones and vehicles), and person may
    be inspected at any time
  • Any resident found in possession of drugs, alcohol or any paraphernalia or
    failing a drug or alcohol test will be automatically and immediately removed from the
    program
  • No fighting or bullying
  • No threatening harm of any kind to other residents or anyone else
  • No weapons at the house or in possession
  • No gang related activity or paraphernalia
  • No gambling (including lottery tickets)
  • No pornographic material
  • No inappropriate room decorations (at the discretion of the board)
  • Be respectful of each other and your neighbors. Consider the volume of your
    music and TV
  • No music, TV or other material that is offensive in public areas. No content
    that relates to drugs, violence, or sexually explicit material.
  • No smoking or vaping in house – smoking only outside in designated backyard
    area, 10 feet from structures
  • No pets
  • Residents must be fully clothed when in public areas
  • Residents may not be in a relationship with any other resident in recovery or
    sober living.
  • Residents must be employed to stay at the house
  • Residents must notify the house manager anytime there is a controlled
    medication prescribed
  • No person may live at the house without a paid up lease with

The Bridge Guest Policy

  • Guests are any individuals that do not reside in the house
    permanently.
  • Guest will be allowed on Saturdays upon approval of house manager
  • Guests must stay in public areas. They may not be in residents’ rooms
  • Guests may be asked to leave at any time by the board

Vehicle Policy

  • Residents may have a personal vehicle if they are legally able to own and drive
    it and comply with all applicable laws
  • Residents must show proof of valid legal driver’s license, insurance,
    registration, and any other legal requirements before using a vehicle and those must
    be shown on request
  • Any vehicle not used or functional for 30 days may be towed
  • Any person who operates a vehicle without a license, registration, insurance,
    or interlock if required, will not be allowed to possess a vehicle, and will be required
    to get rid of an illegally operated vehicle.

Expectations of Residents

  • Life Skills classes, Spiritual Studies, 12-step based recovery meetings are
    required each week.
  • If you are going to be late, need to leave early or if you will be absent house
    manager must be informed

Sponsor, Counseling and Budgeting

  • Keep in contact with your sponsor or spiritual guidance counselor
    If counselling is part of your program or scheduled, it is expected to continue
    Continue with all your budgeting

Expected Contributions to House

  • Keep the house clean
  • Respect and care for the home and its contents
  • Residents may not use space heaters in the house
  • Residents who are removed from or leave the program must collect their
    belongings within 48 hours of exiting the house
  • Resident must be sober to collect belongings
  • Resident must make arrangements with treatment team to collect belongings
  • Residents may not bring others to help collect belongings unless approved by
    the treatment team
  • Items not collected will be bagged and left on the porch for an additional 48
    hours. After that, items will be donated or discarded

Grievance Procedure

  • Any grievance about other residents or the program
    rules and expectations should be taken to house manager and/or treatment team
  • Reporting absconder policy – If a resident leaves or is removed from the
    program and the resident is on probation or parole, the probation officer will be
    notified within 1 business day.

Fee Policy

  • Residents will pay a monthly rent of $700 payable on the 1st of the month
  • Residents who do not complete obligations of payment arrangements for 30
    days or more may have papers filed with the magistrate court. They will also be
    responsible for legal and court fees.
  • If residents are in a coverage program, they will be responsible for any fees not
    paid by the coverage program.
  • Intoxicated/under the influence Policy
  • If a resident is found to be under the influence of any mind altering drugs, the
    following procedure will be followed:
  • If the resident is unresponsive or unable to safely leave or be transported to
    detox, 911 should be called immediately.
  • If the resident is interested in higher care and can be safely transported, The
    Bridge may arrange a higher level of care.
  • If the resident is not interested in higher care and can be safely transported,
    consideration will be given to transport the client to next destination
  • Under no circumstances may any intoxicated/under the influence resident
    remain in the sober living house.
